a. Why Should You Insure Your Shipment?

The vast majority of household good shipments arrive at their destination safely and in perfect condition. However, despite the specialist preparation of the treasured contents of your home for shipment, no matter who you move with and no matter what shipping method is used, there is always going to be some degree of risk attached to transporting your belongings thousands of miles across the globe. The only way to guarantee yourself total peace of mind is to make sure you have adequate insurance cover for every eventuality.

If you decide not to insure your shipment you will be asked to sign an insurance waiver form. Please remember that any moving company’s liability is limited and that you might not be able to file a claim unless you have purchased insurance cover.

b. TEAM Allied's Insurance Cover

TEAM Allied offers comprehensive, full replacement insurance cover for shipments to any destination around the world. Additionally we offer pairs & sets, mechanical & electrical derangement and mould & mildew cover (if required). Our insurance policy is designed to cover anything from kitchen utensils to treasured artworks and motor vehicles (subject to certain exclusions as stated in our insurance cover terms & conditions).

Our insurance cover is “all risks”, full replacement, door-to-door, and includes 60 days storage insurance cover at both origin and destination (storage must be at one of our own warehouses or at that of one of our network agents). Should you require storage insurance beyond 60 days at either origin or destination, we can extend your insurance cover for an additional fee.

Insurance charges are based on a certain percentage of the total insured value of your personal belongings and depend on your destination country and the shipping method. The insurance charges for your relocation will be mentioned in our quotation.

Our insurance cover is only available for moves that are handled door-to-door by TEAM Allied and/or one of our authorized network agents. We cannot insure door-to-port, door-to-warehouse or door-to-airport shipments.

When booking your move from/to Russia through TEAM Allied, we will supply you with a copy of our insurance form, insurance terms & conditions, and our insurance information leaflet. In order to effect cover, you must provide us with a completed and signed insurance form for each portion of your shipment (e.g. if you have an air and a sea shipment and want to insure both, you must complete and sign two insurance forms – one for each shipment).

It is up to you to decide what you would like to insure (i.e. you are not required to insure the entire content of your shipment) and to determine the value of the insured items; it is recommended that you insure each item at its replacement value in your destination country.

Items that cannot be insured and should not be included in any unaccompanied household goods shipment are precious stones and metals; jewelry including watches and trinkets; coins; money; securities; stamps; deeds; foodstuffs; medicines; drugs; liquids such as perfumes; plants or any other living things; as well as perishable or corrosive goods, paints and pressurized containers. In addition to this you cannot insure data on electronic disks or tapes or other optical storage devices.

Please note that TEAM Allied can only insure moves from/to Russia that were booked through our Moscow office. If you book your move directly through a moving company in your origin country, you must ask their office for a copy of their insurance form.
