The steps for an international relocation to/from Russia are as follows:

The first and most important step in any international relocation is a pre-move survey at your residence in your origin country. During the pre-move survey we determine the approximate volume of personal belongings you would like to move and discuss your specific moving requirements with you. Based on the information gathered during the survey we then provide you with a tailor-made quotation for your relocation. As soon as you know that you will be moving please contact our Moscow office by phone or e-mail to set up such a survey in Moscow or in your origin country.

We employ dedicated relocation consultants and imports and exports managers that will assist you with all aspects of your relocation to/from Russia. Our imports and exports managers and relocation consultants are all fluent in English and Russia. Some additionally speak German, French and Italian.

Likewise we have three dedicated customs specialists that have been working for our company for many years and that are very knowledgeable of all aspects concerning import and export customs clearance formalities for personal belongings and artwork arriving/leaving Russia by surface (road & sea) and/or air freight.

Required Documents

Several documents will be required from you (and often also from your employer) for the export customs clearance of your personal belongings in your origin country and import customs clearance in your destination country. The number and kind of documents will depend on your status in the origin and destination country. We will provide you with samples of all required documents and will help you complete them.

Booking Required Moving/Packing Dates

During off-season (January to April and September to mid November) it is normally enough to book your moving dates a week or two in advance.

During high season (May to August and mid November to the end of December) you should reserve your moving dates at as far as possible in advance to guarantee availability of packing crews and moving trucks. We recommend booking packing dates at least 3 to 4 weeks in advance.

We generally recommend you start making arrangements for a larger international move at least 6 – 8 weeks prior to the required moving date. This will provide you with enough time for the pre-move survey, to obtain a quotation, provide your moving company with all necessary documents, sort through things etc.
